FALL IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY
This portfolio represents an ode to the visual aspects of the Fall season in the area of Fairfield County CT where we spend our weekends. Beginning in late September and early October with some subtle coloring of leaves, Fall bursts into more vivid hues as the October weeks pass and concludes with scattered remnants of its former glory in late October and early November.

This photo, which captures the coloration of the early Fall, overlooks a reservoir less than a mile from our house.

These shots were taken on the grounds of our Easton home.

Pumpkins rule in the days leading up to Halloween.

Two view of the same limbs from different angles.

I’m drawn to photographing this local church in all seasons. The nearby cemetery lies at rest below a sumptuous curtain of yellow leaves.

I’m a sucker for shooting vistas that include some water, as on this page and the next seven.

Here the emphasis is on the richly colored leaves, but the water does furnish an attractive backdrop.

Now the water comes into its own, offering reflections that capture not only the shape of objects but suggest their coloration.

Here are several more vivid reflections.

I happened upon this mini-waterfall and shot it both in its natural setting and up close.

There are also some minor rapids in the area, which act up after a big rainfall.

This is my tribute to fallen leaves.

A few resilient leaves, plus the odd tennis-ball-shaped fruit of a black walnut tree.

I was fascinated by the soft colors and three-dimensionality of these aging leaves.

Two views of the same shrubbery from low and high vantage points.

Competing on Sunday morning in the Fall.

This is my favorite tree on our property – here displayed against an attractive combination of colors.

Some peak coloration, soon to fade.

A local playground, a handsome home still wreathed totally in green during late October, and a waystop on this Fall’s geese migration.

This is the notable Easton oak tree, which I return to shoot year after year in all seasons.

A fallen tree and some residual branches.

It’s time to stock up on firewood as Winter nears.

As Fall ends, the fallen leaves overrun the cemetery and play host to a scriptural shadow.
