“CHESTNUTS ROASTING. . .”
Back in 2011 I made a piano album of 30 familiar Christmas-time popular songs, titled “Chestnuts Roasting . . .” (which is the first line of The Christmas Song). I’ve now selected half of these – 15 of my favorites – for the December 2023 musical blog entry. The two newest of these tunes were written in the ‘70s – all the rest come from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s (including two from 1934, the year I was born) – and I’m sticking with this tried-and-true list, ignoring all the more recent (and, in my view, less worthy) ditties.
