Ten Musical Salutes to Springtime

I’ve been featuring a lot of springtime photos on my blog (April and May 2021, March and April 2022, and a fresh supply this May), so now I’d like to also contribute some appropriate music.

I went back over the CD albums I made during the past two-plus decades, and found 10 fine songs that I’ve recorded on the piano – songs that, in one way or another, pay tribute to springtime. These comprise my May musical entry to the blog, which parallels the May photo portfolio that is a collection of my favorite spring images from past years.

Some of the songs celebrate a springtime date or bemoan its late arrival; some focus on a specific activity; some are love paeans to the season; some compare spring to the less favorable current season; one is negative about the whole thing; one uses spring as a metaphor; and so on.

Whatever the message, these piano recordings can provide some easy listening for the next half hour, which I hope you’ll enjoy.

Here are the songs, in the order they are played on the blog.

1.     Easter Parade

2.     Lovelier than Ever

3.     It Might as Well be Spring

4.     First of May

5.     June in January

6.     Spring Will be a Little Late this Year

7.     Up Jumped Spring

8.     The Day Before Springtime

9.     Younger than Springtime

10. Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most
